On March 8, International Women’s Day, the Loyola Retreat House (LRH) celebrates women through the mission and advocacy of LAMBANA – Angono Women Artists Collective, where art and spirituality meet to honor the dignity, creativity, and strength of women.

As the first and only all-women art group in Angono and the region, LAMBANA works alongside the Jesuit ministry to empower women and children through the arts. Their vision inspires women to embrace courage and creativity, nurturing the gifts God has given them to make the world a better, more compassionate place.

Through LRH exhibitions such as Ad Spem Per Artem (Hope Through Art) and SILYA (More than a Convenience), LAMBANA transforms discarded materials—scrap fabric, old wires, plastic, and forgotten chairs—into meaningful works of art, reflecting Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ call to care for our common home.

LAMBANA also held a free art workshop with church workers and Jesuit brothers from the Payatas community at LRH. Using found objects from the retreat house grounds and donated art materials, participants transformed simple items into beautiful works of art. In this gathering of creativity, community, and care for creation, God’s love truly shone through.

Through LAMBANA, LRH affirms that honoring women goes hand in hand with nurturing the gifts they share with the world—gifts that inspire hope, build community, and reflect the beauty of God’s creation. This International Women’s Day and throughout Women’s Month, we give thanks for the women of Angono whose creativity, courage, and stewardship continue to illuminate our lives and our world.
