In the Book of Genesis 18, Abraham sits at the entrance of his tent “in the heat of the day,” and then welcomes three mysterious visitors. He invites them to rest under the shade of the tree.

That shade becomes more than physical comfort—it becomes a space of encounter.

Under that tree:

• strangers become guests,

• guests become messengers,

• and the ordinary becomes divine.

The shade represents a heart that makes room for others.

In Scripture, shade often symbolizes protection and divine care. Like the psalm says, “The Lord is your shade at your right hand.”
